Robert France, Associate Professor, Department of Landscape Architecture Harvard University

Robert France is Associate Professor of Landscape Ecology at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design where he began teaching in the Fall of 1997. He teaches courses focusing on the influences of landscape processes and development on aquatic systems, and on how the design of these systems can be used to mitigate watershed development pressures. Additionally, he teaches courses investigating the ethical relationships of humans to the environment.

Robert Goo, USEPA, Washington D.C.

Robert Goo works at USEPA in the Office of Water, Office of Wetlands Oceans and Watershed on nonpoint source pollution. He is a co-lead for the Smart Growth Team whose focus is protecting and restoring water resources through watershed planning and innovative storm water management practices, e.g., low impact development and green roofs. He also works on decentralized management of storm water systems and onsite wastewater treatment, transportation, federal land and rangeland and grazing issues.

Gregory A. Kearley, AIA, Principal Inscape Studio Washington DC

Greg A. Kearley, a LEED accredited designer, is a principal of Inscape Studio. In 1998 Greg started Inscape Architects, which has since merged with istudio to form Inscape Studio. Greg began his career in Washington, DC at Ellerbe Becket. While there, he worked on a number of commercial and institutional projects, including as a designer of a research center for the United States Department of Agriculture, in Beltsville, MD. After leaving Ellerbe Beckett, Greg joined Travis Price Architects. While there he worked on various residential and commercial projects for this award winning firm.

Peg Staeheli, ASLA, Principal, SvR Design Company, Seattle

Peg Staeheli is a landscape architect and founding principal of SvR Design Company, a Seattle design firm engaged in the practices of landscape architecture, civil engineering and environmental restoration. Her undergraduate education is from Gonzaga University and Washington State University. For the past 25 years, Peg's work has combined the disciplines of landscape architecture and civil engineering. She takes a systems approach to design, integrating aesthetics, function and ecological benefit into urban environments. Peg has worked to bring natural drainage systems design into day to day project work. Natural Drainage Systems use the combination of plants, trees, and amended soils for treatment and flow control of storm water. Peg led the design for the High Point Natural Drainage project, integrating natural drainage throughout the 120-acre urban housing development.


Neil Weinstein, Executive Director Low Impact Development (LID) Center, Inc

Neil Weinstein, P.E., R.L.A., AICP is the Executive Director and one of the founders of the Low Impact Development (LID) Center, Inc. The LID Center is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that focuses on the research and implementation of innovative and sustainable stormwater strategies and techniques. Neil is a registered as Environmental Engineer and Landscape Architect and has Masters Degrees in both disciplines. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the ASCE Urban Water Resources Research Council.

Judges were able to award up to seven (7) group submission awards and seven (7) individual submission awards for a total of ten (14) awards. A monetary award was provided for the team or individual and the participating educational program. A maximum of three awards were allowed to any participating educational program and the individual or groups in the participating educational program.All submissions were reviewed by the judges. Judges reserved the right not to award in any award category.
