Lighting is an important aspect of crime prevention. Well lit areas discourage criminal activity and provide residents with the opportunity to monitor their community after dark. North Brentwood, for the most
part, is well lit at night, with some degree of success, although additional street lighting could improve areas that are overrun with crime.
Occurrence and perception of crime
Occurrence and perception of crime are factors that attract additional crime to the community. A lot that is a run down or abandoned invites criminal activity
and gives the perception that there is a lack of concern. A perceived lack of concern often leads to an increase in the occurrence of criminal activity.
